Get Involved This Summer
Are you and the kids looking for activities to do this summer? With school out, sometimes it can be difficult to keep the kids away from the electronics and get them outdoors.
Luckily for you, here in Georgia there are numerous ways to get your kids off the couch and keep them active during the summer!
Research has shown that when kids participate in voluntary summer programs, they not only are becoming more active, but it can help them with long term success in the classroom as well.
Here is a list of great summer camps that will let you get your work done while your kids learn and grow away from school.
This overnight camp for children ages 6-14 is located in the North Georgia woodlands on top of Lookout Mountain.
The camp features numerous activities while placing an emphasis on nature, outdoor adventure, horseback riding, noncompetitive sports and more. If your kid wants to play in the outdoors, then this camp is perfect for your adventurer!
Camp Woodmont has its accreditation by the American Camp Association (ACA) and with the owners having more than 70 years of combined experience, as well as certified lifeguards and instructors in all activities, you can be sure your children are in a fun and safe environment.
You can register for Camp Woodmont for either one or two week sessions so hurry and sign up today because spots go quickly!
Located in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Northeast Georgia, Camp Dixie provides kids a chance to learn about themselves while participating in safe activities and making friends!
Camp Dixie is open to kids ages 6 to 15 and limits their camps to 70 campers. Not only are the smaller sizes safer, they also allow for a “family” atmosphere that Camp Dixie likes to foster.
The camp is surrounded by preserved forest and also features a private lake that is perfect for water activities.
There is truly something for everyone at Camp Dixie to participate in. Whether it be arts and crafts, sports, ballet, or music, Camp Dixie provides a well rounded experience for all the kids who participate.
With an amazing college aged staff that are hand selected for their extensive work with kids, supervision and safety is not a concern at Camp Dixie.
If overnight camps are not for you or your kids, Georgia also has several day camps available as well.
Aiken County Day Camps
Running weekly from June 10-August 16, Aiken County Parks and Recreation offers your children a chance to learn several new skills while making new friends.
Running at the convenient times of 7:30 a.m.- 5:30 p.m., the camp will feature activities such as arts and crafts, science, sports, aquatics and off site field trips just to name a few.
The cost of the camp is $100 for two weeks or $55 for one week. Participants are asked to bring a sack lunch. Two snacks will be provided throughout the day.
We know that summer is a busy time for many people, and summer camps are a great way to get your kids involved in activities.
If you want to further your children’s outdoor education, there is no better way than to do so in an RV!
We look forward to seeing you here and Happy Summer!
