Wintertime in the City
With just two weeks until Christmas, the holiday spirit is in the air! Last minute shopping is starting, Christmas music is in full swing and even though the weather is still warm, in the morning it can get a little cold.
If you are looking for activities to do this winter with your family or friends, look no further! We have compiled a list of activities to do around Atlanta and other areas that are sure to keep you and your family busy this Holiday season!
Stone Mountain Park
If you are going through Atlanta, you must take a visit to Atlanta's official destination for snow packed fun! Snow Mountain is a massive snowy wonderland that provides participants the chance to fly down steep hills together in family-sized tubes, or go alone and get some super speed! Tubing is not the only activity for your family and friends to enjoy however.
There is also snowman building, snowball shooting and just free play in the snow as well! Basically if you want to come play in the snow and have an awesome time, come to Stone Mountain!
The only thing you need to bring is yourself! All participants need to bring are warm, water proof clothes. Equipment for tubing and other activities is included in the price of admission, and only park-provided equipment is allowed. The park sells basic snow gear like hats, gloves and other winter staples at the Hat & Glove Cart.
Take in some Holiday Lights
Going to look at lights near the Holidays with loved ones is a great idea and is one of the cooler things this time of year. Around Atlanta there are two major light events that take place.
Through January 3rd at the Atlanta Botanical Garden, the fourth annualGarden Lights will take place. This lighting display features amazing colors and most of all a lot of lights! Explore the various color schemes and the cameo appearances of giant Butterflies, a Unicorn, and Frogs from Imaginary Worlds.
With several other themed light shows throughout the garden, Garden Lights continues to be a hit among tourists and locals alike this holiday season.
Festival of the Season
Through Christmas Day at the Georgia Aquarium, come see what has people all over talking about! The aquarium is transformed into a winter palace and features a spectacular light show, appearances by Santa and SCUBA Claus, Mermaids and a holiday edition of "A Symphony of Snow." Get out to the Aquarium this Winter break and take advantage of one of the coolest winter activities around!
Ice Skate at Centennial Park
Through early January, the Centennial Olympic Park is your home for great Christmas lights and Atlanta's only outdoor skating rink! The admission-free park is opened daily from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., including Christmas Day, and features several free and fun activities that the whole family can enjoy.
If you want to take advantage of the great outdoor skating rink, admission is required. However, season passes, group and student discounts are available. Remember, no credit cards are accepted at the rink, but an ATM is available.
We hope these ideas will help you and your family have a fun and safe Holiday season! If you need anything RV related for the RVer on your list, check out our online parts store where we have several RV gifts that will be sure to make anyone smile!
